Morning Glory Farm is a fifty acre retreat center nestled in the foothills of western North Carolina. Our mission is to offer unique learning events to small groups in a peaceful natural setting in ways that support curiosity and compassion. Morning Glory Farm is also a perfect place for spiritual retreats and family reunions.

The First Morning Glory Farm Dulcimer Festival , Nov. 2nd

Saturday, September 11, 10am – 6pm

This one day Festival will feature Wayne Seymour, Ben Seymour teaching various classes for Appalachian Dulcimer and Becky Cleland teaching bones. Cost is $35.00 including the concert and an extra $5.00 if you want to have the lunch of soup, salad, bread and cookies. Snacks will be served at breaks. Registration from 8 to 9:00 am. Classes will last approximately 1 hour 15 minutes each and a concert will follow from 5 to 6:00 pm.

Wayne’s classes:

1. Playing tunes in harmony! Learn how to play two familiar tunes in 2 parts and chords. We’ll learn harmony parts for Old Joe Clark and Home, Sweet Home. If we have time, we might even get to a 3rd part.

2. Hymns of Fanny J. Crosby – Fanny Crosby was a blind author who wrote more than 800 hymns, many of which are still widely sung. Here are three of her best known. Blessed Assurance, Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross, and Tell Me the Story of Jesus. A great addition to your repertoire!

3. Strum Boot Camp!! Appropriate for all Levels!

Ben’s Classes:

1.We will work on some Turlough O’Carolan harp tunes arranged for Appalachian Dulcimer. Turlough O’Carolan (or in Irish Toirdhealbhach Ó Cearbhalláin) lived from 1670 -1738 and is known as the Bard of Ireland. Intermediate to Advanced

2. We will learn some traditional waltzes in this class such as the Tombigbee Waltz and Midnight on the Water and possibly another as time allows. Intermediate

3. We will play rounds as done at the Dulcimores Festival with some new ones added and this class is appropriate for all levels of playing.

Becky’s Class:

1. Becky Cleland will teach how to play the bones in this class and if you have taken it before this will be a chance to brush up and hone that rhythm! All levels

This will be followed by a concert featuring Wayne Seymour, Becky Cleland and Ben Seymour.
